The View Ridge Community Council (VRCC) is one of the oldestactive neighborhood organizations in the Seattle area. It had its beginnings during the 1930’s andwas incorporated in 1940. It was formedto create a sense of belonging and security for a fledgling community and hasgrown over the years to an organization of over 1800 residents addressing anyand all needs of the community.
The area currently covered by theVRCC consists of the households situated between Sand Point Way on the East, 40thAve. NE on the West, NE 65th St. on the South and NE 75thSt. on the North. It also includes thearea known as Aviation Heights.
Membership is free to allresidents; however, we solicit funds once a year to provide for our operatingbudget. Currently that amount is $5.00per household. The Executive Board iscomprised of a President, Bob Lucas, Vice President, Dick Hillmann, Secretary,Jo Mc Kinley and Treasurer, Duane La Violette. These officers are elected to a one-year term by the residence at theAnnual Meeting held during May. Thereare currently approximately 30 Trustees who serve as voluntary representativesof one or two blocks in the neighborhood. It is the responsibility of the Trustee to bring before therepresentative body any matters of concern of their area and also represent thecommunity in local, city, state and national concerns. Each member of the community is alsowelcomed to attend any of the VRCC meetings and voice their particularconcerns.
